The North American city becomes the second US destination, after Chicago, to receive direct freighter connections from Zhengzhou.
The European cargo carrier today (June 30) introduced its first commercial service from CGO to Atlanta, in combination with Chicago, on its flight CV9765 that originates and ends in Luxembourg.
A second new service from Zhengzhou to Atlanta will start on July 4.
In addition, Cargolux connects Zhengzhou and Chicago with direct flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
An airline spokesperson said: "The two additional China-US services cement Cargolux’s strong position in China and on transpacific trade lanes.
"Demand on Cargolux’s Zhengzhou flights is exceptionally strong, fuelled in part by growth in e-commerce. Demand from Asia to the Americas is also boosted by growing markets in Brazil and Mexico that are mainly served via North America.
"With the new flights, Cargolux is able to offer additional capacity to and from China and give shippers in the US more reliable and fast connections to Chinese producers and consumers."
In early May this year, Emirates SkyCargo signed a memorandum of understanding with Cargolux for a strategic operational partnership.
Emirates will use Cargolux’s Boeing 747F capacity, complementing its own fleet of B777Fs, while giving it continued access to planes with noseloading capacity or the ability to carry heavylift cargo.
