According to unconfirmed press reports the aircraft had reported to ATC that it had an unknown problem in the initial climb out after departure at 1130L on a test flight. It came down approximately one mile north of the airport a short time later and was destroyed by fire.
The aircraft, believed to be the third example for the Turkish Air Force, had seven crew on board, and it is understood three were killed, two seriously injured and the remaining two are missing.
