Bombardier, Air Inuit launch Q300 freighter with large cargo door

Bombardier and Canadian carrier Air Inuit have launched a passenger-to-freighter conversion program for the Q300 turboprop featuring a large cargo door.

Dorval, Quebec-based Air Inuit will be the launch customer, planning to add three Q300 Large Cargo Door freighters to its fleet. Air Inuit already operates Q300 freighters with 13,500 lbs. of cargo capacity. The new Large Cargo Door version will have 12,500 lbs. of cargo capacity, and will accommodate both palletized and free load cargo.

Bombardier said a supplemental type certificate (STC) for the new Q300 freighter variant will be developed under license by a specialized third party.

Air Inuit COO Christian Boch said in a statement that the Q300 “is well adapted for remote operations like those required to support Canada’s resource industries and northern communities.”
