Turkish cargo carrier ACT Airlines is investigating a landing accident at Bagram (OAIX), Afghanistan, in which one of its Airbus A300B4 freighters suffered substantial damage. None of the five crew members on the aircraft, which was ferrying freight from Bahrain, was injured.
ACT Airlines identifed the aircraft involved as Airbus A300B4-203F (121) TC-ACB. Originally delivered to Singapore Airlines on February 24, 1981 as F-OGTC and has served with several operators during it's carrer.
The accident occurred at 12:10 today. The aircraft has come to a halt with its left wing and rear fuselage in contact with the ground. Its left-hand General Electric CF6 powerplant has been badly damaged. Flightglobal's ACAS database lists the aircraft as a 29-year old airframe.
Preliminary information indicates that the aircraft was operating a service for DHL in Bahrain, and experienced a hydraulic problem with its landing-gear.
