Delta, Aeromexico pilots sign joint protocol agreement

Delta Air Lines and Aeromexico pilots—represented by the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) and the Asociación Sindical de Pilotos Aviadores (ASPA)—have entered into a joint protocol.

To further their mutual goals, ALPA said the unions committed to a “timely exchange of information, development of a common strategy and additional protocols, and to use all appropriate lawful actions to protect their members’ contractual rights and professional interests.”

According to ALPA, the protocol’s basic objectives include establishing an ongoing dialogue and exchange of information; sharing knowledge and experience in the airline industry, including details of their collective bargaining agreements, national laws and regulations; sharing of other information to protect and enhance their professional interests; avoiding any action that could reduce the leverage available for the Aeromexico or Delta pilot groups; and preparing the further development of the commercial relationship between Aeromexico and Delta to include a joint venture.
